I already have a few plugins activated.
I used to have an old version of Seamless Donations installed.
Then, I updated WP to 4.4.2 as well as all of the plugins, and after activating Seamless Donations, WP Admin would not work, instead producing either "Error 500 - Internal server error", or about 50% of the time just a blank page.
Either renaming the entire plugins folder, or simply the seamless donations plugin folder allows me to access to WP Admin again.
The author said something about the plugin upgrade, to delete the folder, go to the plugins setting in admin panel, refresh the page, and then install the plugin again. I've tried several times, same problem right after the plugin gets activated.
Then, I tried a second, similar purpose plugin called Give, and got exactly the same problem.
I contacted my host (previously Yahoo, now Aabaco), and as they provide no support for WP, they directed me here. This hosting means I'm a bit limited as to what I'm able to do on the server settings part, but switching is not practical at the moment, I'd rather resolve the issue and stay there if possible, than suggest to the organization (it's a non profit) to move everything.
Can you help to troubleshoot the issue? Thanks a bunch.
P.S. someone may think this would be better in the plugins category, but since it likely has something to do with the website or hosting itself, and the problem is so far with 2 different plugins, I hope this troubleshooting category is fine.
