Critical Error after Deactivate, no access to WP

Hi,

For the last few weeks our website was not working properly anymore, without anyone doing changes from within WP or on the server. Sometimes the page would load, sometimes not – Error 500 or just blank white page. The last plugin I installed, weeks before that, was Polylang for dual language but everything was fine (known issues with Updraft?).

In order to see if it’s a general WP problem, I checked site health etc (all fine) and after an attempted Backup with free Updraft that failed (couldn’t complete), Site Health would say a plugin causes loopback check to not work, that there were errors – before that backup attempt all that was fine. Since the plugin didn’t work and now was also causing issues I decided to deactivate Updraft entirely…big mistake! Now nothing is working at all and I cannot access WordPress, Dashboard and the Admin area. I urgently need help!

I’ve already tried the FTP renaming the plug-ins folder to deactivate them all – no luck, still either Critical Error or “This page isn’t working… is currently unable to handle this request. HTTP ERROR 500”.

Any idea? Thanks!
